Release of the documentary The Train of Freedom

Museums, culture centres and theaters offered their venues on July 10, to proudly release El TREN de la LIBERTAD ("The Train of Freedom"), the collective documentary where more than 100 spanish female filmmakers and technicians united in opposition to the Law against abortion proposed by the Spanish government. The film was shot almost entirely on 1 February 2014, the date the demonstrations were held in Madrid and other supportive demonstrations in Paris, Amsterdam, London and Buenos Aires.

Preproduced in just the 3 days before the demonstration, it is available online now after 4 months gathering the footage and editing sound and image. The film can be seen now in vimeo with the spirit of being shared and shown worldwide.

All of the women demonstrating want to keep the law exactly as it stands rather than staking many many regressive steps backwards... where women’s control over their own bodies is reduced by a male-instigated piece of legislation.

"El TREN de la LIBERTAD" ("The Train of Freedom") is the name of the journey which brought women from throughout Spain to Madrid to demonstrate against the new legislation which is at drafted and which will put restrictions on women being able to have an abortion.
