Red fans calling for more Women in Film at the 32 Goya Awards

We congratulate EWA’s Honorary President Isabel Coixet for the three Goya awards (Best adapted screenplay, Best Director and Best Film) received by "The Booskhop", produced by Spain’s A Contracorriente Films and Diagonal TV and Zephyr Films. Carla Simon received the award for the best Debut Film, with Estiu 93 (Summer 1993).
Laura Farrés was the 3rd awarded director, for her short documentary "Los Desheredados", produced by Valerie Delpierre at Inicia Films.

#MasMujeres (More Women) was the insistent trending topic of the 2018 Goya Awards Ceremony with male and female attendees carrying red fans with this slogan, waving them to provide an iconic picture of the auditorium, particularly when the Spanish Academy vice-president Nora Navas attacked gender violence in her speech.

Penelope Cruz said on the red carpet :“I’m in favor of all kinds of quotas and anything which can contribute to change". Director  J.A. Bayona called for women to receive 50% of governmental film subsidies in Spain.
