Isabel Coixet receives the DSP Honorary Award Inspiration

On May 20, the German Acting Union BFFS hosted the 5th annual DSP Deutscher Schauspiel Preis / German Acting Awards in Berlin. These non-monetary prizes are awarded in twelve categories to “distinguish outstanding actresses and actors, filmmakers and partners, who through their works and achievements for acting have been exemplary and inspirational in the past year“.

Isabel Coixet, Spanish-Catalan film director, writer and producer and our very own president, is the first non-German and the first woman to receive the DSP Honorary Award Inspiration “for achievements that significantly facilitate and promote performing arts“.

“Isabel Coixet is one of the most successful Spanish female directors and writers. As president of the EWA network she is fighting passionately and with great commitment against the unequal treatment of women in the making of films, both on a European and an international level. With other initiators of this debate she is responsible for getting the gender issue on the global agenda of the film industry.“

At the Zoo Palast Berlin late Friday night Isabel was presented the DSP trophy by Dieter Kosslick, director of the Berlin International Film Festival, who also delivered the laudation.

Congratulations Isabel, we are very proud of you!
