Women-directed Films Awarded at Berlinale 2019

It was certainly expected that women directors would scoop substantial awards since 41% of the films in the Official Competition, 27% in Panorama, 48% at the Co-pro Market and 27% at the Shortfilm section had been directed by women. Although the 69th Berlinale awards have been truly spread out between many films, three films in the official competition helmed by women have received  their deserved recognition, including EWA member Teona Mitevska's God Exists, Her Name Is Petrunya.
