Aino Suni's A Girls' Room wins Eurimages co-Production Development Award at Tallin Black Nights

A girl's room will be the fiction debut feature of the Finnish director after her acclaimed documentary

Aino Suni (1985) is a Helsinki-based film director and screenwriter. She works both in fiction as well as documentary.

In the festival’s Baltic Event Co-Production Market, which featured 16 projects, France-Finland feature A Girl’s Room, from director Aino Suni (EWA member) and producers Sébastien Aubert and Ulla Simonen, won the €20,000 Eurimages Co-Production Development Award.

Suni's first feature documentary Never Again about female gangsta rap artist Mercedes Bentso is said to be the most discussed Finnish documentary this year. Suni graduated in 2014 as Master in Film Screenwriting from the University of Salford, UK.

Her short films Turnaround and Wolf Carver have been selected in major film festivals such as Sarajevo and Clermont-Ferrand.

Suni also directs music videos. She loves raw cinematic language, wants to break tabus and values open-hearted collaboration as a way to find something new and exciting. Outside office hours, Suni goes crazy when she gets to dance and/or meet a cat.
