On 3 October, EWA held an intensive research workshop in Barcelona for its research study:
“Where are the female directors in European films? – Data mapping with best practice recommendations."
This event was supported by the SFI and the location kindly offered by Fondation SGAE Barcelona.
Participants included FERA representative Pauline Durand-Vialle, EWA Senior Research supervisor, Holly Aylett, Shelagh Rowan-Legg and research representatives from a number of countries including France, Germany, Spain, Sweden and the UK.
Further to the workshop a “light” national country questionnaire has been created on film school data, film fund policy and other impacting issues on gender inequality in film and this has enabled additional countries to join the project, including Austria and Italy. National country reports will be drafted by end April 2014 and first findings presented at Cannes tim festival in May 2015. The study will be released end 2015.
