Anna Bofarull's SINJAR will premiere at Malaga Film Festival

EWA Network's mentee has completed a long way before Sinjar's premiere, including an evacuation from Syrian Kurdistan before the pandemic lockdown. She shared with EWA members the 

EWA Network is so pleased to witness the success of producer and director Anna Bofarull, participant on the  first edition of the EWA Network Mentoring Programme

SINJAR was developed with several development grants and it was selected at the SOURCES 2 writing workshop (FilmCamp, June 2017). The project entered several pitch stops such as GAC Pitching Forum (Barcelona, 2016), FEST FORWARD Women in Film (Belgrade, 2018), FEST Pitching Forum (Espinho, Portugal, 2018) Abycine Lanza (Albacete, 2018) and finally l'Atelier of Festival de Cannes in 2019.

 

A tale spanning the Middle East and Europe, SINJAR explores the intertwined lives of three very different women --Carlota the middleaged European mother, Hadia the Yazidi slave, and Arjin the sex slave turned girl soldier -- who, after their lives and families are destroyed by ISIS, find their destiny in fighting back.
