Q&A with Tanja Meissner, director of Berlinale Pro

We are truly excited to welcome Tanja Meissner to our online meetups to share her insight about Berlinale Pro after her first year of tenure as director of the Industry side of the Berlinale and to listen to your questions.

The meeting will take place on SEPTEMBER 17th from 14h to 15h Central European Summer Time.

 

WHAT ARE EWA NETWORK ONLINE HANG-OUTS?

Through an online space where EWA members from all around can connect and know each other, we organise once a month a meeting where an expert introduces a topic followed by Q&A and members can interact. Each meeting will last 1hour aprox and it's open to 20-25 EWA members, who can introduce themselves and participate in the following Q&A.

German-French Tanja Meissner is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience and profound knowledge of the film industry, its production, distribution and exhibition mechanisms.

She starts her career in 1995 as an international PR agent, handling the publicity of numerous films in Cannes and Venice. Simultaneously she becomes assistant to Wieland Speck, former director of the Berlinale Panorama section, while also co-heading the guest and press office of the Vienna International Film Festival.

In 2000 she moves to Paris to join the prominent sales agency Celluloid Dreams, playing a valuable part in designing the sales and investment strategy in positions of progressive responsibility.

In 2007 she joins Emilie Georges to develop and head the international department at the young and upcoming Memento Films, which becomes a high-profile sales agency under the joint leadership.

In May 2024 she is appointed Director Berlinale Pro*, spearheading the various industry initiatives European Film Market, Berlinale Co-production Market, Berlinale Talents and World Cinema Fund.

Meissner is a regular guest teacher at the Film Akademie Ludwigsburg. In 2021/22 she co-curated the mentoring program ProducerLand Goa/India. She's a frequent market expert for EAVE, Holland Film Meetings, UniFrance, TCCF Taiwan and Fondo Audiovisivo Italy. She is a member of EWA, the European Women's Audiovisual network and the French organization 50/50 for Gender Parity. Previously she was a member of the selection committee of the Film Fund Luxembourg, the export commission at Unifrance and the bureau of ADEF, the French Association of Sales Agents.
