Project: The Islander

Adolf, a once lauded but now mostly alcoholic and even suicidal Flemish journalist, is sent by his newspaper to a remote Dutch island to interview famous Flemish writer S.R. De Mul. Having access to De Mul denied to him by the writer’s wife, he finds his stay on the island being elongated. That gives him opportunity to thoroughly study De Mul’s oeuvre. It leads to surprising insights. Meanwhile, his contact with the local island community, most notably with Paloma, the wife of the owner of the hotel he is staying at, makes him slowly regain his zest for life.
