Women in Focus Talks in SevillaBack

15/11/2015

During a very busy week, with EWA's representatives attending gender events in Norway and in Spain, we are delighted to report that women's ongoing desire for empowerment is unstoppable, especially at a time when some people are trying to erode these values.

Women in Focus is an initiative focused on women in the European film industry. These talks were held in the context of the European Film Festival in Sevilla, Spain.  Acknowledgment goes to Jose Luis Cienfuegos, Festival Director and AAMMA (Andalusian Association of Women in the Media) to build this opportunity to discuss Women's work in the industry.

The session was opened by Oliva Acosta and Ana Rosa Diego, AAMMA's president and vice-president, to acknowledge the support they received from partner institutions and to note that this is also a moment of celebration, as things are already changing.

"Where they spoke in our place" was the title of the speech by playwright Margarita Borja, vice-president of Clásicas y Modernas association, who described the situation of women in the performing arts and cinema.
