The second Workshop of EWA Network’s MRST in Amsterdam

The second workshop of the EWA Network flagship training course has been a great meeting for envisaging branding strategy, working on marketing your film from the first pitch and continuing to engage with your audience, not to mention improving skills on pitching whether it be to brands and financiers as well as in other situations.

The fabulous Eye Film Institute offered both an inspiring location to learn and an opportunity to attend the exhibitions of the Museum which opened its doors to EWA Network MRST participants.

Tutors and trainers included:

Ido Abram, Deputy Director, EYE Institute and the former Director of the Binger FilmLab in Amsterdam, former Director of CineMart (International Film Festival Rotterdam), former Press Officer at Cinemien Film & Video Distributie and previously Responsible for Marketing & Communication at the Netherlands Film Festival. He is an internationally acclaimed pitching expert. Ido Abram has taught at film courses globally and regularly teaches pitching skills, for example, at workshops held during the Cannes Film Festival amongst others. Ido is extremely supportive of new technologies and their input in film and his lively and engaging pitching teaching helped ensure that participants are able to engage with commercial brands successfully. His presence as a course tutor further ensures that participants are well-connected in the industry as he will be able to make a lot of birdges between industry experts.

 

Kobi Shely, Head of Marketing at Distrify Media. He is an online media professional with over ten years of experience in marketing, with a focus on B2B marketing support & execution. Kobi worked with the participants to help everybody reach their targets through various publisher integrations. Kobi enlightened us with the latest online marketing techniques that lead projects to a successful audience engagement.

Aviva Silver, former Head of Unit at the Media Programme Creative Europe and actually co-founder of NeaCinema, a company focused on advice on investment strategies for banks, private funds and businesses and Fostering partnerships with brands and private investors for audiovisual projects and events; Aviva delivered a masterclass on applying for European Funds and a tailored approach to the new financing models for content.

Matt Brown, co-founder of Elevator Advertising, Matt started his working life as a Media Buyer focused on planning and buying press and outdoor for a number of high profile brands in Consumer Finance, Media and Retail. As early as 1998 he set up a dedicated strategic online marketing team, designed to respond to the curiosities of the agency's clients. Matt unveiled the secrets of brand marketing, product placement and how to approach brands to get them help finance your movie.

The participants also attended the presentation of  Frank Peijnenburg,  Head of Screen NL at the Netherlands Film Fund about co-producing with the Netherlands. The Netherlands Film Fund is the national agency responsible for supporting film production in the Netherlands and activities such as festival and training. Its focus is to develop and strengthen Dutch cinema and film culture both domestically and internationally. The Film Fund strives to intensify international collaboration through stimulating international co-production, the international export of Dutch films and the development of talent through training in an international context
