The 28th European Film Awards

On Saturday December 15th, the 28th ceremony of the European Film Awards will be held in Berlin.

Of the 8 films directed by women shortlisted weeks ago, only "Mustang" directed by Deniz Gamze Ergüven made it to the final of 6 best films.

In the Best Director categoryMałgorzata Szumowska, director of  "Body", is candidate for best director - one out of six!

There is a better ratio of women in the European Discovery - Prix Fipresci category, where 3 films out of six were directed by women.

Here we find Veronika Franz,co-director of "Good Night Mommy",

Anna Sofie Hartmann, director of Limbo and

Deniz Gamze Ergüven, director of  the multi award winning "Mustang".

-In the Shortfilm category we find 4 films put of 15 directed by women.

Konstantina Kotzamani, director of Washingtonia candidate for best short film, Greece,

Thora Lorentzen, Sybilla Marie Wester Tuxen directors of "This Place We Call Our Home", Denmark,

Lola Quivoron, director of "Son of the Wolf", France,

and Eva Weber , director of "Field Study" UK

Finally, there are no women nominated in the European Animated Feature Film,  DocumentaryEuropean Comedy or European Screenwriter categories.
