La Novia and Nobody Wants the Night nominated for Goya awards

"La Novia", directed by EWA Vice-President Paula Ortiz, and "Nobody Wants the Night" by EWA Honorary President Isabel Coixet, have earned multiple nominations for the upcoming Spanish GOYA AWARDS.

We are delighted to see two women nominated as best directors, alongside two male candidates. Nonetheless among all the films nominated for the awards men still outnumber women directors, though this year has been generally more fruitful in terms of gender equality.

"La Novia", an adaptation of García Lorca's "Bodas de sangre" (Blood Wedding) earned 12 nominations for best director, best film, the main 4 actors, photography, adapted sceenplay, music, sound, art Direction and make-up.

"Nobody Wants the Night" received 9 nominations for best director, best film, main actress (Juliette Binoche),  photography, music, art direction, make-up, wardrobe and production.

The GOYA Awards ceremony will be held on February 6 2016.
